5 Broncos players that dominated in the shutout win over Jets

2. Alexander Johnson, LB

It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve really called out Alexander Johnson for having a big game, doesn’t it?

The luster from his initial start with the team has completely worn off, and the hype that he built up in the 2019 season seemed to completely dwindle away over the last year.

With Josey Jewell injured, most of the focus in this game was on the starting debut of Justin Strnad, who played really well in relief of Jewell both last week and on Sunday against the Jets.

Although eyes were on Strnad because he’s newer, it was the play of Alexander Johnson that maybe made the biggest overall difference of any player in this game against the Jets.

He led the team with five total tackles, including two sacks on Zach Wilson along with a pass breakup over the middle of the field after he dropped into his zone.

Johnson is in a contract year, just like a number of his teammates on the Denver Broncos right now.

He played extremely well in this game and did his thing as a blitzer, in coverage, and out in space.

It was good to see the “dino” out there making big plays and affecting the game as frequently as he did.
