The Denver Broncos improved to 3-0 on the 2021 season following a 26-0 shutout victory over the New York Jets on Sunday.

The Broncos achieved their first shutout win since 2019 when they blanked the Tennessee Titans 16-0 and Sunday’s contest was never close. The Broncos got strong efforts from players in all aspects of the game.

Teddy Bridgewater was efficient again, completing 19 of 25 throws for 235 yards. He did not turn the ball over. The Broncos also got rushing touchdowns from both Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. Tim Patrick also had a solid day, catching five passes for 98 yards.

The story though was the Denver’s defense, which could certainly be attributed to the lack of offense displayed by New York.

The Jets had just 162 yards of total offense. Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson got little help from his teammates and he threw two more interceptions, which puts him at seven on the season.

Justin Simmons and Caden Sterns each had picks for the Broncos. The Broncos also had five sacks on the day as the Jets never really threatened to put points on the board.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 1-2

The Broncos remain undefeated but the equally big news was that the Kansas City Chiefs, who have ruled the AFC West, winning the division in each of the last five seasons, lost on Sunday and that drops them to 1-2 on the year.

Yes, both the Las Vegas Raiders (3-0) and the Los Angeles Chargers (2-1) are right there with the Broncos, but it’s a sign that there could be a changing of the guard in the division, which all three teams should be happy about.

It’s only three weeks into the season and there is a lot of football to be played. We can count on the Chiefs to bounce back and be contenders, but it is noteworthy that the Broncos, who are playing as good as they are, have a two-game lead on the Chiefs as of right now.
