Denver Broncos: 5 players that need to step up vs. the Jets

5. KJ Hamler, WR

Although he dropped a touchdown in week one, KJ Hamler’s 2021 regular season debut was not all bad.

He had a couple of key plays contributing to the Denver Broncos’ big win over the New York Giants, including a huge third-down conversion early in the second half.

With just one reception for five yards in week two and a miscommunication between he and Teddy Bridgwater on a deep route, however, the pressure is now on Hamler to have a big game against a young Jets secondary.

The Jets’ defensive backs have played well to start the 2021 season, certainly better than they appear on paper.

Hamler’s outstanding speed is a significant weapon on the Denver Broncos’ offense, and it’s time for that to be exploited. The Broncos don’t have to lead the NFL in air yards per attempt in order to get Hamler involved, either.

He’s capable of making a huge impact after the catch.

Although the offense will more likely flow through Courtland Sutton as it did in week one, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Broncos force-feed Hamler just a little bit in this game to try and ramp up his involvement.
