Denver Broncos: Roster matchup with Las Vegas Raiders
3. Special Teams – K, P
Time for everyone’s favorite; the special teams unit!
The Broncos are fortunate to have a reliable kicker like Brandon McManus, but the Raiders have themselves a decent kicker with Daniel Carlson as well.
Over the past three seasons, Carlson has made an average of 87.17% of his kicks.
Over the past three seasons, Brandon McManus has made 82.57% of his kicks.
Both stats exclude the 2021 season, and it appears that Carlson is the more accurate kicker.
McManus has a career long of 58 yards, while Carlson’s career long is 55 yards.
I think it’s a wash here. McManus has a more impressive body of work, but Carlson just hasn’t been in the league for that long.
AJ Cole is the Raiders punter; he’s been their punter since the 2019 season. Last year, he had a punt average of 44.1 yards and a long of 63 yards.
Last year, Broncos punter Sam Martin averaged 46.8 yards per punt and had a long of 69 yards, so Martin gets the nod here.
The special teams is split, 1-1, so that brings the total to 6-4-1, with the Broncos holding 6 positional group advantages, the Raiders having 4, and both teams tie in one position group.
The Broncos have the better roster, and its apparent, but can Teddy Bridgewater be the answer for the Broncos?
