Denver Broncos: Pros and Cons of Potential 2022 QBs

1. Teddy Bridgewater

It’s only fair to start with Teddy B.  For a split second, his week 1 performance made us all forget about his shortcomings as a passer.

As well as Bridgewater played, he is still very flawed as a quarterback. but he does have some desirable qualities.

Bridgewater has a very high football IQ, takes care of the ball for the most part, and has sensational pocket awareness.

His pocket awareness and scrambling ability were on full display against the Giants.  He used these skills to throw his two touchdown passes, actually.

Teddy’s pocket presence is stellar and will help him take fewer sacks and extend plays.

His football IQ cannot be understated either.  It was clear from the beginning that he was quick to pick up the Denver Broncos offense during the offseason.  Seeing as he won the starting job over someone who had been in the system for two years, it proves further his high IQ.

Teddy is also a very good teammate, and by an extension of that, surely a good locker room guy.

Von Miller recently had some very glowing things to say about Bridgewater, and I think he may be on to something.

As for the cons, Teddy has some physical limitations.  He has a below-average arm, so his passes take longer to hit the receiver, and he can’t make every throw on the field.

He does have a bit of an injury history and has a thin frame, further exposing him to more damage.

Lastly, he’s never solidified himself as a starting-caliber quarterback.  He’s been on several teams with valid chances to cement himself as a franchise guy but hasn’t been able to do it.

That could change in Denver, but history tells us it won’t.

There is definitely a chance that Teddy Bridgewater can turn into a solid starter for the Denver Broncos.  However, it remains to be seen if the front office is fine with just “solid” in the AFC West.
