5 Denver Broncos players who must step up vs. Jaguars

5. Bradley Chubb, OLB/EDGE

The Denver Broncos’ week two matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars will be a great game for Bradley Chubb to get back to business.

As of the time of this writing, there is no guarantee that Chubb is even going to play.

The Broncos held the former fifth-overall pick out of the week one matchup against the New York Giants, and understandably so. With 17 regular season games and a backup like Malik Reed, you can afford to let Chubb heal up and recover as much as he needs.

With that being said, as dynamic as Von Miller was in week one, it’s hard not to be a little greedy at this point and be anxious about getting Chubb on the field at the same time.

Miller put on a vintage performance against the Giants in week one, and Chubb looked solid in his preseason action a few weeks ago. He’s been slowly working his way back into practice and it felt like based on his participation reports from last week that he was going to do all he could to get on the field against the Giants.

And I have no doubt that he did.

The Broncos decided not to risk it with one of their star players, and Chubb sat. But in week two against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Denver Broncos’ pass rush has an opportunity to feast. The Jaguars can be physical in the running game in the trenches, but the Denver Broncos have a clear advantage if this game comes down to Trevor Lawrence throwing the ball 50 times or more again.

Chubb has not been practicing in full just yet, but the Astronaut might be ready for takeoff in week two, and if/when he takes the field, he’s got to step up and make a huge impact.
