Jerry Jeudy’s injury hurts, but it’s not devastating

Reports indicate that the high ankle sprain suffered by Jerry Jeudy on Sunday will likely keep him on the sidelines for 4-6 weeks. Whether it will have lingering effects beyond that remains to be seen.

It’s a tough blow for the Broncos as Jeudy is a huge part of the offense, but it could have been much worse. Initial replays appeared to show a possible break of the ankle, which would have certainly ended his season. Instead, he can retake the field at some point in the year.

The Broncos will have to turn to other receiving options and will likely call up a wide receiver like Tyrie Cleveland or the rookie Seth Williams from the practice squad.

Jeudy’s rehab process will be critical as a high ankle sprain is the same injury that derailed Michael Thomas’ season last year and has him on the shelf to begin this one. So while initial reports show that he could miss as little as a month, that is on the extremely optimistic side of things.

Still, the Broncos can work around his absence and use the other options at their disposal.
