Bradley Chubb will miss Denver Broncos season opener vs. Giants
Denver Broncos star pass rusher Bradley Chubb will not make his 2021 season debut against the New York Giants. He’s out with an ankle injury.
Denver Broncos fans are understandably giddy to see the duo of Bradley Chubb and Von Miller out on the field together for the first time since 2019. Miller missed all of the 2020 season with an ankle injury and Chubb actually landed on IR late last season with an ankle injury as well.
In 2019, Vic Fangio’s first year as head coach of the Broncos, Bradley Chubb was the one that missed most of the 2019 season with a torn ACL.
The last time both Bradley Chubb and Von Miller were on the field for any significant stretch of time together? Back in 2018 when Vance Joseph was still the team’s head coach.
Chubb is certainly the most significant of the Denver Broncos’ inactive players for the season opener against the New York Giants.
Bradley Chubb entering critical year four with the Denver Broncos
There’s no question about it — the 2021 season is absolutely massive for Bradley Chubb.
Coming off of a Pro Bowl selection in 2020, Chubb has been outstanding when healthy for the Denver Broncos, exactly as advertised when he was a top-five selection back in the 2018 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State.
With that being said, injuries have certainly piled up in the last couple of seasons.
Chubb is crucial to the Denver Broncos’ team success, but the team is in good hands with Malik Reed coming off the “bench” and into the starting lineup with rookies Jonathon Cooper and Andre Mintze undoubtedly making their NFL debuts on Sunday.
Even without Bradley Chubb, the Denver Broncos’ defense will still be expected to cause a lot of issues for Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
Von Miller is back. Malik Reed is good. Jonathon Cooper and Andre Mintze will bring speed and energy off the edge. Baron Browning could get some reps off the edge or as a blitzer as well. That would be a lot of fun to see as Browning has unbelievable athleticism and really good raw pass-rushing skills.
The big news here is Bradley Chubb, but the Denver Broncos are undoubtedly in good hands.
