Denver Broncos: How the playoffs can be reached in 2021
4. Efficiency of Teddy Bridgewater
Let’s talk about the quarterback play even more.
It felt like the majority of Broncos Country was against the idea of Teddy Bridgewater being the starting quarterback for the 2021 season. Those made sense in the fact that Drew Lock looked pretty good in the preseason.
With the Broncos going with Bridgewater, Drew Lock’s career as a starting quarterback is currently on pause.
In the preseason, there were some solid throws by Bridgewater but also some that were pretty far off target. He’ll need to fix those inaccuracies if the Broncos are going to have an effective offense.
Mixing in the run game should also help Bridgewater succeed. While his main job is to throw the football, Bridgewater has been known to make plays with his legs. We’ll have to wait and see how much of that he sprinkles into his game. Against the Vikings, Bridgewater did run for a touchdown but it got called back due to a penalty.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how the Broncos get into the end zone. It is just important that at the end of drives, that’s where they are; not punting the football away, turning the football over, or kicking field goals.
If Bridgewater is having success in the passing game, it’s almost a certainty that the running game is doing well.
