The rookies and free-agent signings

Because it’s their first game in a Broncos uniform, at least one that counts in the standings, fans are always eager to see what kind of an impact the high draft picks and the big free-agent signings will make.

Many of these new Broncos are in the team’s secondary. It remains to be seen how much first-round pick Patrick Surtain will play, but Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller should both see extensive action.

The other guy to watch will be rookie running back Javonte Williams. The Broncos had not drafted a running back as high as the second round since 2013 when they drafted Montee Ball. The hope is that Williams will be much, much better than Ball.

Melvin Gordon will get the start and the Broncos will likely look to ride him as much as possible, but Wiliams will get his opportunities and all signs point to him being a handful for the opposition to handle.
