3. Trade for Jaylon Smith or Leighton Vander Esch, LB (Cowboys

The Cowboys all of a sudden have a surplus at LB after drafting both Micah Parsons and Jabril Cox in the 2021 NFL Draft.  Jaylon Smith and LVE make a formidable duo, but the Cowboys defense was putrid last season, so it’s no surprise they’re trying to revamp that unit.

It seems like Smith has come up more in trade rumors, but both players are very talented and wouldn’t be rushed to start.

Both are also still young and could become long-term contributors for the team.  Even though the Broncos have Baron Browning and Justin Strnad waiting in the wings, adding another surefire talent at the position would be smart.

Both Josey Jewell and Alexander Johnson will be free agents at the end of the season, and I don’t get the vibe that General Manager George Paton would bring either back.

Adding either Smith or LVE would give Vic Fangio more ammo and youth for the defense and would make losing Jewell and Johnson much more palpable.
