Denver Broncos: 5 quarterbacks the team could stash for emergency
4. Robert Griffin III
This is my biggest splash pick for this article, and if you were hoping I’d say Cam Newton, I’m truly sorry, not sorry. While I feel it would make little sense to bring in a veteran starter like Newton to further confuse a team that just ended a QB battle, RGIII would actually make sense here.
The former second overall pick fared well in a reserve role with the Ravens from 2018-2020 behind Lamar Jackson. Though he has joined ESPN as an analyst this year, he has a clause written into his contract allowing him to continue playing if an opportunity arises.
He’s a capable veteran player with good tools and a desire to stay in the NFL, and I think we’d all be a little excited to see him take the field if worst comes to worst. RGIII’s name has been floated around Denver in years past in our search for an heir, but in this role, I could see him making a lot of sense.
At 31 years old, after struggles in Washington and Cleveland, he has proved himself to be a good teammate and veteran player in Baltimore and would be a great pickup in this role.
