3. Case Cookus

Cookus spent three days with the Denver Broncos in minicamp and has had similarly short stints with Minnesota and Las Vegas since. While it’s not necessarily a good sign that he’s bounced around so much this offseason, teams are clearly interested in kicking on the tires.

He’d be a relatively safe option to stash on the practice squad as an emergency QB and did flash some great potential in small-school ball at Northern Arizona. He won the Jerry Rice Award as FCS football’s #1 player back in 2015 as a freshman and finished his time with over 12,057 yards, 105 TD’s, and just 21 interceptions.

Cookus was described by NFL Analyst Lance Zeirlein as a “Small-school pocket passer with a lively arm”. With a little upside and a splash of familiarity with Pat Shurmur’s offense, he’d be a logical choice for a 4th QB.
