There might soon be a Hall of Fame quarterback hitting the waiver wire.

Kendall Hinton has been given plenty of opportunities by the Denver Broncos to make an impact in preseason play, and he’s made some, but probably not enough to crack the 53-man roster in an absolutely loaded room.

The one player at this position group that has really made things fascinating is Trinity Benson, a 2019 undrafted free agent who has been about as consistent as you can possibly be when it comes to getting your name mentioned at practices and in the preseason games themselves.

After getting a nice shoutout from Vic Fangio after the offseason program, Hinton simply hasn’t made enough of a splash to make the 53-man roster right now.

He will be an interesting player to watch through the waiver process, though, because he’s obviously got an intriguing reputation and teams might be interested to further develop him as a slot receiver and punt returner.

The Broncos tried to get him involved in that regard, and I think they would undoubtedly love to bring Hinton back onto the practice squad. You never know when you’re going to need to call his number again.

If Hinton had been able to make a few splash plays on special teams in addition to what we know he brings to the table as a slot on offense, I think the story here might be different.
