As the 2021 NFL season quickly approaches, the Denver Broncos should keep looking to make trades with other teams to improve their roster.

The Detroit Lions stink.  You may recognize that sentence from one of my more recent articles, where I looked at trade ideas with the Houston Texans.  Because of this, the Denver Broncos should take advantage.

This time, I want to look at potential trade ideas with the lowly Detroit Lions.

For what it’s worth, I think the current situation in Detroit is embarrassing.  I am not a believer in Dan Campbell, and I think we’ll eventually get to a point where Detroit realizes what a horrible hire they made.

With that said, once the team does get to that point, they’ll begin to sell off their assets in return for draft capital.

This is where savvy General Manager George Paton comes into play.

Denver Broncos: Trade ideas with the Detroit Lions

1. Jamie Collins Sr, LB

The former Patriot turned Lion enjoyed a career year in Detroit last year. Collins racked up 101 total tackles, and he added a sack and interception for good measure.

Collins is an athletic linebacker who has very good speed and decent coverage ability.

Even though he’s 31, he’s exactly the type of player the Denver Broncos have been looking for to solidify the LB room.

He’s under contract for another two years and would surely start for some time.

I know the Broncos have both Justin Strnad and Baron Browning waiting for their turn, but what happens if one of the two gets injured, or has a disappointing stretch of play?

Jamie Collins isn’t on the same tier as other top linebackers, but he’s very solid and would provide the defense with a nice upgrade.
