The Houston Texans stink. The Denver Broncos are a rising team that could benefit from trading for a veteran or two, and the Texans may have the perfect roster for that.

Good front offices are never satisfied with their team’s roster.  They’re constantly looking for ways to improve, whether it be trades or free agency.  The Denver Broncos have a good front office, folks.

George Paton has proved this in his first year as the new Broncos’ general manager. He has added a handful of veterans in free agency and has kept this up throughout the offseason.

The Houston Texans have engaged in a couple of trades the last few days, and it’s clear they’re in a full-scale rebuild.

The win-now Broncos would be smart to see what veterans would be available to acquire from the Texans

Denver Broncos: Trade ideas with the Houston Texans

1. Justin Britt, OL

As I write these words, the Broncos have just lost veteran C/G Brett Jones for the season with a torn biceps.  Being that George Paton clearly values depth, this is a somewhat significant blow for the team.

Yes, there are surely free agents out there, but Justin Britt has started 86 games in his career, most recently with the Seahawks in 2019, and would be an awesome veteran addition to the team.

Both Quinn Meinerz and Lloyd Cushenberry are young and have a lot of room to grow, so perhaps Britt could provide that ‘veteran presence’ that we all talk about.

Britt isn’t a great player, but bad players don’t start 86 games in the NFL, so there’s clearly some talent there.

Obviously, injuries happen, and while I hope that not a single one of our players gets injured, it can’t be helped, and if Lloyd Cushenberry were to go down, the center duties would be handed over to Meinerz.

As much as I love The Belly, he isn’t quite ready for C1 duties, so having a guy like Justin Britt would make me feel a lot better.

2. Desmond King II, DB

Can I interest you in a lightly used Desmond King? King, a former All-Pro with the Los Angeles Chargers, would be a very nice addition to an already deep Broncos secondary.

I’ve written about King before. I just really like this player and would love if he were wearing orange and blue.

This scenario is mostly due to the Broncos losing cornerback Michael Ojemudia for 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury, as we found out today.

Even though OJ may only miss a game or two, the team will still surely miss his presence, and even though he may not be relied on much, seeing as he’s currently CB5, anything can happen in an NFL season.

King is a much better player, in my opinion than Michael Ojemudia, and also possesses return ability.  In fact, here’s a 68-yard punt return he had against the Broncos back in 2019.

In my opinion, King brings a desirable set of skills to the table and would further solidify the Broncos roster.

3. Geron Christian, Sr, OL

Ok, so, Geron Christian isn’t any good, but he’s a massive tackle who is freakishly athletic.

Perhaps that’s all Mike Munchak would need to turn Christian into a solid contributor.

Christian was drafted in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft by Washington, but never amounted to much of anything.

Truth be told, that’s why he’s on the lowly Houston Texans.

Geron Christian is only 24, so doesn’t need to be rushed into a starting position. The Broncos could acquire him for next to nothing, and, at the very least, perhaps he sticks as a backup tackle.

Yet again, I’m emphasizing depth here. The Broncos just lost backup lineman for the season, so the team should look to stock up, if you will, in case one of our starters goes down.

There really isn’t much else to say regarding Christian. At this point, I’m convinced Mike Munchak could turn me, a 5-foot-8, 158-pound person into a decent player.

All joking aside, the team should keep adding depth as the offseason slowly comes to a close.
