The Denver Broncos appear to have four safety spots pretty locked in for the 2021 season.

Justin Simmons — not going anywhere.

Kareem Jackson — not going anywhere.

After the preseason game against the Vikings, it’s hard to imagine either PJ Locke or Caden Sterns are going anywhere either.

Players like Trey Marshall (dealing with an injury) and Jamar Johnson have to hope that the Broncos’ plan all along was to keep five safeties, otherwise, their spots on the team could be in jeopardy.

At the time of the 2021 NFL Draft, a lot of folks liked the Jamar Johnson pick better than the Caden Sterns pick based on Johnson’s more recent productivity at the college level.

Johnson was outstanding in coverage for Indiana and did it not only from the deep safety position but also coming down into the box or in the slot.

That versatility will hopefully be on display against the Seahawks, where the Broncos should look to get Johnson some extended work and see what he can bring to the table.

He will have to play special teams to be on the final roster, and the team obviously likes his long-term potential, so they should work to get him involved in this game.

Hopefully, we get the chance to see him working that deep free safety position along with Caden Sterns and see the two rookies in action together.
