Diontae Spencer, Wide receiver/kick returner

If you ask me, Spencer is as good as gone. The Broncos have too much talent at the wide receiver position and they have guys who can make plays on kickoff returns and as a result, don’t need a specialized return man.

This is something I have argued for awhile now and it just seems to be a  waste of a roster spot when  a guy like Specner likely is not going to contribute anywhere aside from returning kicks.

Now if he was returning one for a touchdown every other game then it would be one thing but he’s not, nobody is. The team can get a guy like Benson or Hamler to help gain decent starting field position on kickoffs and have a chance to break one here and there.

The Broncos started camp with 15 wide receivers. That  number has been dwindled to 11 but it won’t be much longer that they can hide Spencer on the roster.

Even if Cleveland doesn’t make the team,  it makes more sense to keep Hinton or even Williams ahead of Spencer. Of course, with the solid receiving corps the team already has, the Broncos may decide that they have enough weapons to adfford to be able to keep a returner.

He has been working with Drew Lock to become more of a weapon in the passing game. His value as a return man is big for some as well.

But, I’ll say  no.

Prediction: Cut
