Nate Hairston, Cornerback

If it is assumed that the Broncos keep six cornerbacks on the team and five of those are likely locks (Patrick Surtain, Ronald Darby, Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan, Michael Ojemudia) then it will be tough to  crack the roster for a player like Hairston.

The Broncos are deep at the position and already moved on from Rojesterman Farris in the first round of cuts. Guys like Parnell Motley, Duke Dawson, Kary Vincent Jr.  and Saivion Smith are looking to make the team as well and Essang Bassey is still on the PUP list.

Bassey is probably the best name on that list so whoever does make the team as the sixth corner may only do so temporarily.

Hairston is a former fifth-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts and joined the Broncos late last season after being plucked from the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens. Of the names listed above, he is probably next in the pecking order as he has had a solid training camp.

However, unless the team  views him as a better option long term than Bassey, it’s not likely that he will be around long.

Prediction: Cut
