Trey Marshall, Safety

Marshall was injured on the opening kickoff of the game against the Minnesota Vikings last Saturday and will miss the rest of the preseason. That’s not good when you are fighting for a roster spot.

The Broncos have one of the best combinations at safety in all of the league with Justin Simmons and Kareem Jackson, they just need some depth behind them.

P.J. Locke has gotten look but he and Marshall will have to hod off rookies Caden Sterns and Jamar Johnson. Sterns has had a huge summer and I would call him pretty much a lock to make the final roster.

If the team only keeps four safeties, Marshall, Locke and Johnson could be battling for one spot. But it’s hard to make the team from the sidelines and though Marshall has been around a few years now and is a good special teams player, he is expendable.

The last spot goes to either Locke or Johnson.
