I could be reading this one wrong, but it seems like the Denver Broncos have established a pecking order at the offensive tackle position.

It’s clear right now that the top three tackles on the team are Garett Bolles, Calvin Anderson, and Bobby Massie with Anderson and Massie vying for the right tackle position.

Fleming could be on pace to be the team’s fourth tackle, should they keep four, but they have also spoken rather highly of Quinn Bailey throughout the offseason and no undrafted rookie was more coveted in terms of guaranteed cash than Drew Himmelman.

Fleming played 25 snaps against the Vikings and at this point, it seems as though he’s not really in the mix to start at right tackle. With Bolles and Massie as veterans and Anderson at worst the swing tackle, Fleming could be the odd-man-out early.

If the Broncos decide they are going to go with younger, cheaper options behind their top three tackles for depth (and Fleming isn’t overly expensive, by any means), then they might let Fleming hit the free agent market so he can catch on with another team.

If Fleming were truly in the mix for right tackle, I don’t think you’d see this as even a remote possibility. Given the fact that it seems to be down to Anderson and Massie for that job, I think the Broncos could “do right” by Fleming and let him get to the open market sooner rather than later.

Other possibilities to be part of the initial wave of cuts include defensive backs Saivion Smith, Mac McCain, Rojesterman Farris, wide receiver DeMornay Pierson-El, tight end Austin Fort, offensive linemen Noah Laufenberg, Brett Jones, and Austin Schlottmann, and defensive lineman Deyon Sizer.

The Broncos could also potentially make procedural moves like moving a player to injured reserve. Trey Marshall and LeVante Bellamy may be candidates there after going down against the Minnesota Vikings with injuries.
