Kalambayi was, unfortunately, one of the ones that landed on the list of players that were disappointing in the Vikings preseason game. Although he wasn’t the only one with a missed tackle or two, he also dropped a possible interception on a tipped pass from Patrick Surtain II.

Those are the types of plays that can really make or break your roster chances.

In addition to perhaps some missed opportunities against the Vikings, Kalambayi is playing the inside linebacker position in Denver when in reality, he may be more of an edge rusher/outside linebacker type. You can’t fault the Denver Broncos for giving a player like this a shot with his special teams experience.

With Baron Browning coming off of the PUP list, one of the Denver Broncos’ reserve linebackers is likely to be part of the initial wave of cuts.

The Broncos have a couple of undrafted players in Curtis Robinson and Barrington Wade who probably deserve longer looks at this point in time, and Josh Watson has experience in Denver already which gives him an advantage over Kalambayi.

Josey Jewell is starting to come back healthy from his groin injury, and Justin Strnad has looked good in camp as well as in the first preseason game.

Whether its Kalambayi or Barrington Wade, I think you can safely pencil in a linebacker among the first wave of roster cuts for the Broncos.
