Who will be the third tight end?
This isn’t that pressing of an issue, though tight end is one of the thinnest positions on the roster.
The Broncos have two solid youngsters in Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam and so long as both are able to stay healthy, should not have to worry too much about who the third tight end is.
But in today’s NFL, having enough depth to make it through what will now be a 17-game season is a must.
The Broncos have Eric Saubert, Austin Fort and Shaun Beyer all vying for the third tight end spot The team could also give that roster spot to Andrew Beck, who can play a fullback/tight end role.
That could go to any of those guys and these next three preseason games will likely determine who gets it, as it is far from decided.
None of those players has been a force in the NFL in terms of being a receiving tight end. The Broncos need a guy who is a capable blocker who can come in and make a play here and there in the passing game.
With the luxury of having the athleticism in Fant and Albert O already on the team, they have the ability to be flexible with the guy they choose for the number three spot.
Remember those four names this preseason and see which one of them is able to separate himself from the pack.
