The Denver Broncos are just about ready for their first of three preseason games and before we know it, the 2021 regular season will be ready to get underway.

Before that happens, the Broncos have some important questions to answer on the offensive side of the ball. The team has what could become one of the league’s top defensive units, particularly with Vic Fangio overseeing the process.

But the Broncos have not had a great offense for quite some time, dating back to when Peyton Manning was playing quarterback and helping the team break NFL records. Since those days, the defense has been above average and the offense often can’t get out of its own way.

The hope is that will change in 2021, and the pieces are in place for that to happen.

Here are the biggest questions the team must answer on the offensive side of the ball before the season gets going.

Who is the quarterback?

This is one is obvious, but because it is the most important position on the team, we’ll start here.

The Broncos need to figure out who will start the season at quarterback but it seems they are not close to being able to do that. The competition between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater is still being considered a toss-up and it might be the only competition in the league where that is truly the case.

Hopefully, the team gets a little bit closer to answering this question after seeing what each player does in the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings.  Both players will get ample opportunity to show what they can do in that game.

Broncos fans should be rooting for Lock to win the competition. Bridgewater is a capable quarterback with a wealth of experience, but you also pretty much know what his ceiling is.

Lock still has much more potential upside and it would be huge for this team if that can be realized this season.
