Graham Glasgow is set to be the Denver Broncos’ starting right guard, but could he be on the move before the season?

The Denver Broncos offensive line has a chance to be a strength for the team, but could Graham Glasgow, the team’s $44 million guard, be traded?

There is a league-wide shortage of quality offensive linemen in the NFL.  Only a handful of teams truly have a good offensive line, and many teams have an average to below-average offensive line.

For the Denver Broncos, their offensive line is, at worst, average. The emergence of Garett Bolles, the potential of Dalton Risner, and the noticeable improvement of Lloyd Cushenberry should propel this line into something special.

However, the two positions on the right side are up for grabs, it seems.  At the right tackle position, Bobby Massie and Calvin Anderson are battling for the starting position, and the right guard spot also seems up for grabs, though not as clearly.

Netane Muti has made a name for himself in his second year in the league, and, according to Vic Fangio, has “flashed nicely” this offseason.

The team’s first unofficial depth chart came out recently, and Muti was penciled in as Dalton Risner’s backup.

Muti may prove that he’s ready to start (there’s no reason why he shouldn’t), and the team isn’t going to trade away Dalton Risner, seeing as they’re very high on him and he’s still on his rookie deal.

The trade that does make sense, though, is Graham Glasgow.  Executing this trade and starting Muti at right guard all of a sudden makes the Denver Broncos’ interior offensive line a lot younger.

Don’t get me wrong, Glasgow is a good player, but he’s on a rather large contract, and the team can save $8.5 million this season by trading him.

I think all of us assume that because Graham Glasgow is on a big contract, he’ll be with the team, but I don’t think that’s entirely the case.  While it is likely that he ends up with the team for at least 2021, I would not rule out a trade.

Furthermore, the Broncos just drafted Quinn Meinerz, who played guard in college.  If Meinerz shows enough in the preseason, perhaps that gives the team another reason to shop Glasgow.

There are quite a few teams that could benefit from trading for Graham Glasgow.

Teams like the Jaguars and Bengals, who have young quarterbacks, could benefit from Glasgow’s services.

The Houston Texans are another team who could be interested as well, seeing as their offensive line has been a problem for quite some time.

I think the Denver Broncos could probably fetch a 4th round draft pick, at most, for Glasgow.  His contract isn’t huge, and he’s a reliable player, so the Broncos surely can get a mid-round pick in exchange.

On the flip side, since his contract isn’t huge and he is a reliable player, why would the team trade him?

As I stated before, I think it is unlikely he gets moved this year, but I don’t think it’s impossible.
