Denver Broncos: 3 bold predictions for Drew Lock in 2021
Bold prediction No. 2: Lock will cut his turnovers down by more than half from 2020
The big knock on Lock last season, and the reason some fans were already willing to move on, was his high number of turnovers. He threw 15 interceptions and lost four fumbles for a total of 19 turnovers, which is just too many.
That is more than one turnover per game on average and you just don’t win many football games that way. If Lock doesn’t get that problem fixed, he will be out as the starter in Denver in a hurry.
But this year is going to be different.
Having the experience from last season in which he performed this way, Lock will come in 2021 having learned the importance of protecting the ball better. We will see far less careless throws from his back foot you know, the ones that draw the Jay Cutler comparisons.
Lock could make those throws in high school and college but things change at the professional level.
Lock will have learned to become a smarter quarterback where protecting the football is his number one priority. There will be more of a calculated, careful approach to his game and not one full of risky, almost absurd throws.
The turnover number will go from 19 last season to less than 10 this year.
