Bold prediction No.1: Lock wins the QB competition… easily
Heading into training camp, the talk was that both quarterbacks were going to get an equal look. There was going to be a 50-50 split in reps and to this point, that has been the case.
But Lock is going to start to put distance between himself and Teddy. Starting with the first preseason game, it will be Lock who starts to emerge as the better option.
For all of Lock’s faults, there are just as many reasons to continue to believe in him.
The team hasn’t exactly been a cohesive functioning offensive unit during his tenure. He is constantly having to learn a new offense and all the intricacies that go with it. He’s also played basically the equivalent of one full regular season.
Fans should not be willing to throw in the towel on him and while Bridgewater can serve as an effective veteran off the bench in a pinch, he’s not the guy this team should be looking at as its starter. If he was that, he would probably still be with the Carolina Panthers, who apparently saw all they needed to of him as a starter.
Lock is the better option and by the time the preseason concludes, there won’t be much of a question about who is the team’s starting quarterback. It will be Lock.
