Bryce Callahan 80 to 86 (+6)

Bryce Callahan missed the entire 2019 season (his first year with the Broncos) due to a foot injury but came back to play 10 games for the team in 2020. He was targeted 52 times and allowed 28 receptions throughout the year. PFF gave him an overall grade of 84.1 last season.

Callahan allowed a passer rating of 46.9 throughout those ten games he played and that put him atop the league in that specific area. As Shelby Manning previously wrote, it’s certainly possible that Callahan is the league’s most underrated player.

Now let’s take a dive into the specific ratings for Callahan, comparing them from last year to this year.

Speed: 93 to 93
Acceleration: 92 to 92
Awareness: 83 to 87
Agility: 87 to 87
Zone: 79 to 89
Man: 80 to 85
Play Recognition: 85 to 89

Last season, Callahan had a tackling rating of 58. This year, Madden 22 has improved that particular rating for him, giving him a total of 63 overall. Of course, we love seeing tackles but for cornerbacks, the big number is the takeaways—the interceptions or forced fumbles.

Callahan has six interceptions throughout his career.

Despite the team going out and signing his former teammate Kyle Fuller in Chicago, as well as Ronald Darby and the drafting of Pat Surtain II, Callahan has been around longer than those guys and if he can stay healthy for the season, he’s going to continue doing what he did last season. He’s a phenomenal player who absolutely deserves this Madden 22 ratings increase.
