Kyle Fuller, Cornerback

Kyle Fuller was signed by the Denver Broncos this offseason to improve a cornerback position that struggled in 2020.

Madden 22 has given Fuller an overall rating of 87, placing him third on the team.

With that, the Denver Broncos officially have two players initially cracking the 90-plus club.

Fuller is very shifty as a cornerback, and Madden gave him a 90 rating for his agility. He has an overall speed rating of 91, which tied with seven other players for sixth place on the team.

Madden gave Fuller an awareness of 89 overall, which is a tad disappointing. I am sure that once he gets some games under his belt in 2021, he will show Madden’s rating adjusters such as Chad Johnson and Ed Reed that they were wrong for this.

Fuller has recorded 19 interceptions since entering the NFL in 2014. That shows that his catching should be highly rated, right?

Maybe.

Madden 22 gave Fuller a catching rating of 71. Of course, he won’t come near players that catch the ball on a daily basis in the wide receivers, so it does make sense that the rating sort of fits that narrative.

Fuller gets a 91 in the jumping rating. Despite being shorter than plenty of wide receivers in the league (5-foot-11), Fuller had three pass breakups in 2020, which isn’t a ton, but he tripled that number in 2019 when he recorded nine pass breakups. With the expectation that the pass rush of the Broncos being strong this season, hopefully, we can see Fuller knockdown many more passes, but also catch them for interceptions.

As for injury, Madden 22 has given him an 89 for the category. Fuller did miss all of the 2016 season due to an injury but other than that has not missed a game. Hopefully, that will remain the case in 2021 with the Denver Broncos.

Coverages

Fuller reunites with Vic Fangio as his head coach in 2021. Fangio was Fuller’s defensive coordinator in Chicago for four of Fuller’s seven seasons in the league, including the season he ultimately missed.

Fangio mainly runs a zone defense with man coverage mixed in. For Man coverage, Madden 22 has given Fuller a Man rating of 86, which ranks 20th in the league. For zone, they have rewarded Fuller with a 92 overall. That is good for sixth in the league, tied with stars Tyrann Mathieu and Devin McCourty.

Overall, these are pretty solid ratings but hopefully, like every player, he can prove Madden wrong and outplay his Madden ratings.
