The Denver Broncos have opened training camp and now the work begins.

The Broncos are a team that some see as flying under the radar in the league. Are they a sleeper team that could pop up out of nowhere and contend this season or are they going to be the team that can’t beat the Kansas City Chiefs and finishes with seven or eight wins, as many others see?

For this team, the defensive side of the ball is going to have to be key and the unit may have to carry the team to victories, as it has done in the past.

This defense looks terrific on paper. Von Miller will be back and Bradley Chubb is starting to come into his own. The secondary looks like it could be as good as any in the league as well.

We have already discussed sleeper players on offense heading into this camp, but what about some defensive sleepers? Here, we will go position by position to discuss which defensive guys could crack the 53-man roster and also have an impact on the season.

It could even be a guy who makes an impact in the future.

Defensive line: McTelvin Agim

It seems like the starters could be locked in along the defensive line for the Broncos with  Shelby Harris, Dre’Mont Jones and Mike Purcell.

McTelvin Agim will be entering his second year in the league after being a third-round pick last season and just as much as he is a sleeper, he is a true wild card on this defense. He could be a hidden gem and he could turn into a bust that doesn’t even make the team.

Judging by his rookie season, Agim just wasn’t ready for the professional level, causing the Broncos to sign players like Sylvester Williams and Tim Jernigan when the team experienced some injuries, rather than turning to the rookie.

That could leave Agim as a player many are not thinking about this summer, but he still had the kind of traits that made him a day two pick in last year’s draft. If he soaked up valuable information last season from the veterans in front of him and can translate that into his untapped potential, he could begin to break out this season.

It will be interesting to watch his progression this season.
