Madden 22 ratings: Von Miller cracks top 10 edge rushers
Denver Broncos OLB Von Miller was named in the top 10 for edge rushers in the upcoming Madden 22 video game.
Training camps are underway, which means fantasy football drafts, delusional sports takes, and the new Madden 22 video game is near. Every year before the game comes out a teaser is dropped, which is the overalls of players who madden ranked at the top 10 of their position or specialty. This year, to no one surprise, Denver Broncos OLB Von Miller cracked the top 10 for edge rushers, however, where he came in is cause for a bit of debate.
Along with Miller’s overall rating of 93, he received an 86 for speed, 88 for acceleration, 88 for agility, 93 for awareness, and a 92 for tackling.
Respect or disrespect?
Miller being top 10 is a given and Madden 22 did show some respect with the 93 overall ranking, however, Miller being ranked in the latter half of the top 10 is debatable.
One could pinpoint to Miller missing all of last year with a tendon injury as of why. Yet those narratives shouldn’t exist for athletes anymore after Adrian Peterson came back from an ACL, MCL, and meniscus tear, and rushed for over 2,000 yards completed, running that theory to the ground.
Could one say Miller lost a step? Sure, but one can also say they can fly. If you watch the tape, Miller is still top 5 at coming off the edge, and the stats back that up.
Miller has earned over 106 sacks in 135 games played. Those 106 sacks rank 26th all-time in NFL history and currently rank 2nd among active players just behind Terrell Suggs, who has played 244 games.
Miller also ranks 4th among active players in the tackles for loss category with 135 on his career, which ranks higher than Cameron Jordan and Chandler Jones. Miller is one of 10 defensive players to receive Super Bowl MVP honors and it’s because of his specialized edge-rushing ability. Should Miller be first on this list? Probably not, but he should be a shoo-in for the top five.
