The 2021 season is year three of the Vic Fangio era for the Denver Broncos.

After a really poor start to the 2019 season, Fangio coached the team to a 7-9 record and second-place finish to close out the year.

The 2020 season was a crazy one, but the Denver Broncos finished with a disappointing 5-11 record regardless of the circumstances and seemingly took a step back offensively.

Regardless of whether or not the 2020 season was a fair evaluation year, this coming season is going to be crucial for Vic Fangio in keeping his job beyond the season.

The Broncos have to win more games than they lose, for sure, and it’s probably mandatory to make the postseason or the team will consider a change at head coach.

A breakout from Drew Lock in the 2021 season would almost undoubtedly mean that Fangio’s job is safe beyond this year.

Strong play from Bridgewater could also save Fangio’s job in 2021, but if Lock can break through and play some good, consistent football, it could set Fangio up for multiple more years with the team and, looking way too far ahead, perhaps an extension with some sustained success.
