Javonte Williams is the final rookie to sign for the Denver Broncos and their 2021 NFL Draft picks.

The North Carolina running back very likely would have been a Miami Dolphins draft pick had the Denver Broncos decided to not leapfrog them to select Williams at pick 35. Williams is a true downhill threat in the running game and his future is very bright in the NFL with what he brings to the position and potential uncertainty.

His contract was first reported by Mike Klis of 9News in Denver.

Melvin Gordon is a talented running back under contract through 2021; however, free agency looms for Gordon is in 2022. Williams allows Denver to use him as a true bell-cow back in 2022.

Williams is a dominant running back who is a human bulldozer. He applies contact like he is a linebacker without the football. Williams chooses to run like he has bad intentions, and every single defender thinks twice before tackling him.

Defenders cannot arm tackle him because he will plow right through. One of the other areas Williams excels in is pass protection. The underrated trait that qualifies a running back to be a true bell cow is what he does without the football. Due to his linebacker style at running back, Williams is a very difficult player to absorb contact with because defenders bounce off him. He enjoys putting in the dirty work to protect his quarterback asset.

Lastly is his value as a receiver out of the backfield. All of the backs in Denver bring something extra to this team. Mike Boone brings versatility to the backfield and special teams. Both Williams and Gordon add a pass-catching dynamic that allows the Denver Broncos to not tip their hand when they will run or throw it on offense.

Williams has soft enough hands like Gordon and is very fleet of foot athletically to move well after the catch. Gordon and Williams could be a true dynamic duo in both phases this year.

Broncos Country should be very excited about the duo of Williams and Gordon in 2021 and the future of Williams beyond 2021.
