Running Back Javonte Williams

When it comes to the running back position for the Denver Broncos, 2020 was a mix of speed and power with Phillip Lindsay being the speed, and Melvin Gordon being the power.

Lindsay bolted off to Houston to play for the Texans, leaving the Broncos with a hole at the position. In comes Javonte Williams via the NFL Draft out of North Carolina.

At UNC, Williams paired very nicely with fellow 2021 draft pick Michael Carter. Williams had 157 carries for the Tar Heels in 2020, registering 1,140 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. He added 25 receptions for 305 yards and two touchdowns through the passing game that year.

While running backs are easily replaceable, the Broncos traded up for Williams because they love what they saw from him throughout his collegiate career. It would be silly for them to allow an expansion team to steal him away—and that team absolutely would if given the chance.

Splitting carries with Carter throughout college was very important for him and hopefully, that will help him have a long career in the orange and blue.
