The Denver Broncos could soon be up for sale.

After a lawsuit filed by Beth Bowlen Wallace and her sister against the Pat Bowlen Trust was recently dismissed, the team’s ownership situation is still up in the air. That leads to several questions.

What happens next? Will the league step in on the situation? And who will eventually be the team’s owner? Though it is a story that is in the background and not on the field, it is a situation that has gone on for far too long.

The organization and Broncos Country need a resolution.

So for argument’s sake, we are going to act as though the Broncos will eventually go up for sale for the first time since Pat Bowlen purchased the team back in 1984.

Over the past, many fans have enjoyed the idea of Peyton Manning becoming the team’s owner. Now, Manning is a wealthy man, but he’s not that wealthy.

Forbes recently released its list of the most valuable sports franchises in the world and the Broncos came in at a tie for No. 25 on the list at an estimated value of $3.2 billion. Manning is not going to buy that without a large group to help him. That could still be a possibility, however.

But if the Broncos are valued at that price, it’s likely that a sale price would be north of that number. That leaves the list of potential buyers of the team to be pretty short.

One name that may come up is that of Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon. He has a net worth of close to $200 billion and could easily acquire the team if he so desired.

Well, he has the money, but would he have the interest? Bezos has spent time around other NFL owners and does have support within the league to eventually become an owner himself.

What kind of support would Bezos receive in Denver? That’s hard to say, but would it really be worse than the circus that has gone on surrounding this trust? The league would likely eagerly approve of the sale of the team to someone like Bezos and it would bring more stability to one of the league’s best-run franchises since Bowlen purchased it.
