It would probably be a bit of a surprise to see the New York Jets release Chris Herndon, but he has not been running with the starters to this point in the offseason and that is concerning.

The Jets also have veteran options in Ryan Griffin and Tyler Kroft and they are excited about undrafted free agent Kenny Yeboah. There is certainly a chance that Herndon gets left on the outside looking in.

Herndon was a fourth-round pick of the Jets in 2018 out of Miami but he’s never really lived up to his potential in the league. To his credit, the Jets haven’t been very good during that time frame either.

Herndon has 71 career receptions for 796 yards and seven touchdowns. Perhaps with a change of scenery, he could step up his game?

Denver could be that place.

The Broncos are pretty weak at tight end beyond Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam, who may not even be ready for action when the season gets underway as he still recovers from a torn ACL.

Behind them, the Broncos will be choosing between Eric Saubert, Austin Fort and Sean Beyer for the No. 3 tight end spot and Herndon would easily be an upgrade over all of them.

The Jets will probably give Herndon one more season to see if he can make his mark with the team, but if he were to become available, the Broncos should have a keen interest.
