Quarterback Chad Kelly

Chad Kelly was the Mr. Irrelevant of the 2017 NFL Draft. Odds were instantly against him before he was even drafted. The fact is, however, that it truly does not matter what pick you’re selected at, or if you’re even drafted at all.

The Broncos took Kelly while they had Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch on the roster. It was one season past the Peyton Manning era and the beginning of what would eventually end up being a frustrating period of time looking for the next franchise quarterback.

The Broncos apparently viewed Kelly as a starting quarterback, but that was not to be. Kelly was arrested following a team Halloween party when he broke into somebody’s house. He was then chased out of the house and arrested shortly after.

Kelly was accused of punching Von Miller’s videographer in the bridge of his nose during the event.

There is no excuse for something like this to happen. That being said, it does not change the fact that the team wishes he would have worked out for them. It was a dumb mistake by Kelly. If he would have stayed out of trouble, there’s a chance that he could have been the team’s starting quarterback. Who knows? Maybe even to this day. Longterm.
