Brendan Langley

When a player ends up playing on both sides of the ball for a single team, it is safe to say his initial role in the NFL did not go as planned. That is what happened with 2017 third-round pick Brendan Langley.

Langley initially joined the Broncos as a cornerback out of Lamar. He was outplayed by fellow corner Marcus Rios. The Broncos waived Langley and he was played on the team’s practice squad.

The following year—in March—the Broncos converted Langley to wide receiver. However, he never saw the field at that position for the team.

The biggest issue here is his draft position. Being a third-round pick, teams expect you to workout. The fact of the matter is that Langley ended up being a bust for the Denver Broncos.

At the cornerback position on that team, the Broncos had Chris Harris Jr., Aqib Talib, and Bradley Roby. After those three, there weren’t really notable names. The fact that Langley was drafted so high and couldn’t make the team just is a major disappointment.

At wide receiver that season, the team had Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders locked in as starters, with Bennie Fowler, Jordan Taylor, Isaiah McKenzie and Cody Latimer as some afterthoughts.

Following his time with the Broncos, Langley signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in 2019. His contract with the team ran out in January of 2020. Langley has been a free agent ever since.
