DeMarcus Walker

DeMarcus Walker was a second-round pick by the Broncos in the 2017 draft by head coach Vance Joseph and company. Sorry to bring that name back into the organization, Broncos Country.

Walker was very productive for the Florida State Seminoles, racking up 179 tackles including 107 solo, as well as 41.5 tackles for loss. Walker recorded 27 career sacks in college, including his senior year in which he had 16. He was very solid at forcing fumbles too, knocking the ball loose seven times.

No wonder he was drafted so high. That college production is tempting.

Then came his NFL career.

In four years with the Broncos, Walker played just 725 defensive snaps. That includes 2018 when he played just 21 defensive snaps in three games. Walker was ultimately inactive for six games.

The Broncos and Vance Joseph played Walker at linebacker, which proved to be a massive mistake. Why would they take him out of a position he was solid at in college and put him in a position he is unfamiliar with?

That was one of the many mistakes Joseph and Co. made.

Following the firing of Joseph, their new head coach, Vic Fangio, used Walker properly again, and he finished his Broncos career with 8.5 sacks in his final two years.

Now, Walker is a member of the Houston Texans.
