Trey Marshall, safety

Since going undrafted in 2018, Marshall has managed to beat the odds and hang around Denver for three seasons. But if anyone disliked what the Broncos did in the fifth round of this year’s draft, it was probably Marshall.

The Broncos drafted two safeties in the fifth round, Caden Sterns and Jamar Johnson. Both are intriguing prospects and both will likely make the roster with one of them most likely getting a chance to replace Kareem Jackson next season.

Where does that leave Marshall? The only other safety on the roster is P.J. Locke and even he could outshine Marshall, who will find it difficult to make this year’s 53-man roster.

In three seasons with the Broncos, Marshall has made 30 tackles and has played mostly on special teams.

He has shown the ability to come in and play safety when the team has called his number, specifically at the end of the 2019 season when Jackson was suspended.

But with two new rookies in the mix, Marshall is going to have to have a special summer if he is to stick around in the Mile High  City.
