What a dominating performance Demaryius Thomas had on October 5th, 2014.
From an overall game performance, this one may have brought Thomas’s best overall production. There were several exceptional days from Thomas in the orange and blue, but I remember watching him this afternoon and thinking, this dude really is Opthomas Prime.
Thomas caught a routine pass and turned on his jets for an 86-yard scamper that showed off how freaky of an athlete he truly was. Brushing off Antonio Cromartie in man coverage and scooting past the safety Rashad Johnson, Thomas looked like an auto bot out there.
Previously in the second quarter, Thomas scored on a catch and run stiff-arming former Pittsburgh Steeler, Larry Foote on his way to the end zone. Demaryius Thomas and that stiff arm was a thing of beauty.
In this game, Thomas presented his power, speed, and strength that Peyton Manning gushed about all in a single quarter.
He also had another 77-yard touchdown reception called back in this game that would propel him over the 300-yard mark for a single game. While his stats and production were remarkable to this day, imagine if that play wasn’t stripped from him.
Setting a Denver Broncos single-game record with 226 yards, Thomas would have obliterated the prior mark of 214 yards with the additional 77-yard scamper. When it was a Demaryius Thomas game, we all knew we were in for a great day in Broncos Country.
His entire repertoire was on display this afternoon and will always be remembered as a bright day in not only his career but the Denver Broncos career as well.
