Brandon McManus, Kicker
Broncos kicker Brandon McManus has been pretty solid since arriving via a trade with the New York Giants in 2014.
McManus’ career-long for a field goal conversion is 58 yards. You may remember the longest field goal in NFL history was by then-Broncos kicker Matt Prater—64 yards.
If the Broncos would actually give him the opportunity during games, there is no doubt in my mind that McManus can tie or possibly even break that record, as long as it happens in Denver.
Of course, there will have to be realistic opportunities for him to do it. Last year, the Broncos appeared to be attempting a field goal that would, if he made it, break the NFL record for longest field goal in league history. However, Fangio decided against it.
One of the most important things you have to have as an NFL player or coach is confidence. It is clear that McManus did have the confidence to go out and kick that field goal and was upset that he wasn’t able to even attempt it.
Denver Broncos: When will work with Manning show up for Drew Lock?
After working with Peyton Manning, Drew Lock has a chance to show that he is the quarterback for the Denver Broncos. But when will we see it?
McManus does have competition for the All-Pro nod, with Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker being extremely consistent. Maybe if the Broncos start to win more games, especially by last-minute field goal conversions, McManus will get that recognition and earn his first First-Team All-Pro honor.
