The five years since the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 have not been great. They have not made the playoffs since that victory. They just have not won enough.

That being said, the team does have some star players. They just have been unable to combine the talent into victories.

Last year, the Broncos had just one Second-Team All-Pro in left tackle Garett Bolles, who turned his career around dramatically.  After years filled with holding penalties, Bolles was recognized last year for his much-improved play throughout the year.

Some may feel like the first player on this list getting snubbed last year overshadowed Bolles’ major achievement. Let’s hope that this player gets the recognition he will deserve if he can play like he did last year, or maybe even better.

Justin Simmons, Safety

Justin Simmons had career highs in interceptions with five, as well as tackles, with 96, including 77 solo tackles in the 2020 season.

Just 27-years old, Simmons is already a top safety in the NFL. Whether he is top three or top five, well, that is up for debate and many have put in a good word about him.

In Pro Football Focus’ “50 best players in the NFL right now,” Simmons comes in at an impressive 23rd overall.

There is no doubt in my mind that Simmons can be even better for the Broncos for years to come. He earned himself a massive contract extension that made him the highest-paid safety in NFL history.

He shouldn’t need the help, but if the Denver Broncos start to win more games than they have over the last five years, Simmons will get even more recognition and earn what he rightfully will deserve.
