LeVante  Bellamy, Running back

The Broncos have three running backs on the roster who likely have spots wrapped up in Gordon, Williams, and Mike Boone. The wild card will be Royce Freeman.

If the Broncos decide to keep four backs on the roster, they could be swayed to trade Freeman if a guy like Bellamy steps up. Undrafted out of Western Michigan a year ago, Bellamy bounced between the team’s practice squad and active roster during his rookie season but didn’t contribute much in regular-season games.

The talent lies within Bellamy, however.

He is a smaller back at just 5-foot-10, so he’ll never be an every-down back in the NFL, but he is the kind of guy who can provide a spark as a rotational player. He also showed the ability to return kicks in college and could possibly contribute there as well.

The Broncos would not have four running backs active each week, so Bellamy likely would be in the exact same role as he was last year, but the team may not want to cut his talent loose.

Gordon also does not appear to be a long-term answer for the team and with Phillip Lindsay no longer around, the Broncos may want to keep one of their young running backs in their system.
