Calvin Anderson, Offensive tackle

Not long ago, it looked like Anderson could end up being the team’s starting right tackle following the injury that ended the season for Ja’Wuan James. Instead, the Broncos went out and signed a couple of veteran free agents in Bobby Massie and Cameron Fleming.

But Anderson should not become an afterthought due to those transactions.

Anderson is a player the team likes and he could still be part of the final roster, but it won’t be easy.

If you figure the Broncos keep about nine offensive linemen, that group would include Garett Bolles, Dalton Risner, Lloyd Cushenberry, Graham Glasgow, Massie, Netane Muti, and Quinn Meinerz. It’s hard to envision any of those players not making the team and that makes and that makes seven already.

Would the team keep Fleming and Anderson, or would just one of those guys survive cuts? The Broncos also have Austin Schlottmann who can be a versatile piece.

It’s quite possible that both Fleming and Anderson make the team, but Anderson would increase his odds greatly if he is able to outperform Fleming this summer.

The Broncos likely see Anderson as having the much higher ceiling of the two players and would like to see him get past Fleming in the pecking order.
