Tyrie Cleveland
Cleveland is another guy who can aid in the return game and he is a player the organization seems to like. The fanbase has high hopes for him as well.
Though he looked good last summer and ended up making the team as a seventh-round pick, he didn’t contribute much offensively and saw action on less than seven percent of the team’s offensive snaps last year.
He did play about 28 percent of the special teams snaps and though he didn’t have as many opportunities as Spencer on kickoff returns, he actually averaged nearly five yards more than him.
For a receiver at the bottom of the depth chart, making an impact on special teams is a must. Cleveland did enough there to be one of the favorites to make the roster after the first four guys but that’s far from a guarantee.
Injuries are something that almost can’t be avoided in the NFL. Both Sutton and Hamler dealt with injuries last year and if the Broncos were to go through something similar this season, they’ll need a guy who can contribute as a receiver and not just a special teams guy.
One would think that Cleveland would be a better option than Hinton in that regard, but he’ll have to prove it on the field.
