Several teams like to keep a kick return specialist, and Spencer is one of the league’s best. But when there isn’t really another area where that player is going to help out, it can be a waste of a roster space.

Spencer has just nine career receptions and he just doesn’t seem like he will ever be the kind of guy who contributes in a big way in the passing game. If you have a guy who is capable of doing that, wouldn’t you rather have that?

The Broncos may lose a bit in the way of average yards per kick return by having someone back to field them aside from Spencer, but Hinton could prove to be much more useful in the passing game.

There are some who will say Spencer is a lock to make the roster, but he shouldn’t be. In fact, the Broncos could have several players prove to be more worthy of a roster spot during the preseason.

He needs to show that he can do more than just possibly have a big kick return during a game.
