7 Denver Broncos who could be next in the Ring of Fame
2. Al Wilson, LB
Al Wilson was the heart and soul of the Denver Broncos defense from 1999-2006. The prototypical 2000s middle linebacker, he was nothing short of dominant in the middle of this unit.
Denver has been known for its hard-hitting safeties like Steve Atwater, Dennis Smith, and John Lynch, but Wilson might have some of the biggest hits from the linebacker spot.
He was brutal in the box, but also one of the best coverage linebackers of his time. A first-round draft pick in 1999, he clocked a 4.49 40 (same as Von Miller) and used that speed to make plays all over the field.
Though his career was cut short by a freak neck injury in his age-29 season, Wilson made a huge impact in Denver during his time here.
With 5 Pro Bowls, 723 tackles, 60 TFL, 21.5 Sacks, 46 passes defended, 5 interceptions, and 8 forced fumbles on his resume, he kept pace with the greats of his day like Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher.
No doubt in my mind he belongs in the Ring.
