Max Duffy, punter

The Broncos signed Max Duffy following a tryout and it’s not to say that Sam Martin was bad last year, because he was just fine, but Duffy offers the chance to be even better at a much lower cost.

That scenario will motivate any team to make a change, and the Aussie Duffy will have every chance to make that happen.

Duffy won the Ray Guy Award in 2019 at Kentucky, given to the best punter in the nation each year. He has a massive leg, possibly stronger than Martin’s and if he can show himself to be a better directional kicker than Martin this summer or at least on the same level, this is actually going to be an easy decision.

The Broncos would save over $2 million by choosing Duffy over Martin so Martin is going to have to really prove that he deserves that kind of money and the only way to do that would be to obliterate Duffy in this competition.

Of all the undrafted free agents on the roster, Duffy has the best chance of sticking.
