Denver Broncos: Examining pros and cons of 2021 schedule
Pro: The season starts off nicely, on paper
On paper, the Broncos have a desirable start to the season.
If the three games that close the season are going to be difficult, the three games to start the season could easily be the opposite. The Broncos get the Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets in the first three games of the year.
Though two of those games take place on the road, there really is no reason the Broncos shouldn’t be at least 2-1 following those games. Last season, those three teams combined for a record of 9-39 and the Giants managed six of those wins.
After opening the season with the Giants, the Broncos face the Jags and Jets, who combined for three wins a season ago and had the first two picks in the recent NFL Draft.
If a Broncos fan was asked to handpick three opponents to start the season against, these might be the three teams they would pick.
Denver absolutely must take advantage of this favorable start to the season and come away with at least two victories, though a 3-0 start would be the first for the team since 2016.
